August 23, 2009 at 4:20 PM Leave a comment

For those of you who couldn’t make it to the last Stress Management Project orientation there will be another one on  Tuesday, August 25th at 5:00PM at Ackerman 2410.

Just another overview of the program:
This is a health education class which we teach at Venice Clinic, a clinic which helps the uninsured and low income population. What a lot of people aren’t aware of is that stress plays a major role in our everyday life, and it can lead to a lot of a health problems if it is not dealt with correctly. Volunteers will be paired up to teach this class which occurs twice a week, each class lasting no more than an hour. In the class, we talk about what stress is an demonstrate deep breathing and relaxation techniques.

Answers to FAQ:
– You don’t have to be an active member of NCAM to join this program, but once you do start volunteering you need to attend one workshop a quarter
– No prior volunteering background needed! We will teach everything you need to know
– Time commitment: It is a flexible schedule which will be determined based on the volunteer’s availabilities but you need to be free during the day time.
