Phaniindra has been practicing yoga for over 30 years. He was introduced to the Ananda Marga yoga system in particular in the Philippines, where he was initiated into the Ananda Marga lifestyle practice, a tantra-based yoga practice called Rajadiraja yoga. Ananda Marga yoga system is a global organization with a main purpose of developing the individual human being physically, mentally, and spiritually (through the practice of yoga) and serving humanity. Under this system, yogis not only practice yoga and meditation, but also travel around the world, helping those countries that face calamities.

Phaniindra has been teaching the Renaissance Universal Yoga Club at UCLA for more than five years, and has been a yoga educator for over 15 years, teaching weekly at a physical therapist center and at people’s homes, offices, and studios. He teaches the biopsychology approach to yoga – educating others about how various yoga poses affect, and benefit certain glands in the body, and specifically addressing how yoga can help reduce stress, the risk of heart disease, lower heart rate and blood pressure, and improve immune function.
