NCAM Professional Networking Committee

Mission Statement
The NCAM Professional Networking Committee connects students interested in the fields of nutrition, wellness, complementary and alternative medicine, and integrative medicine with experts and professionals in those fields.

Philosophy
The NCAM Professional Networking Committee is dedicated to promoting awareness of integrative medicine and providing students with networking opportunities to interact and learn firsthand from professionals in the field of integrative medicine.

The number and variety of careers in health and wellness is growing as the emergent field of integrative medicine continues to develop and thrive. Integrative medicine blends the best of modern allopathic medicine and traditional whole medical systems (e.g. Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda). The emphasis in integrative medicine is examining the patient with a holistic view, and understanding that a patient is more than just the sum of his or her symptoms. Integrative medicine professionals focus on preventative medicine and individualized care. The goal of every integrative medicine professional is not to simply mask the symptoms, but to treat the underlying illness and care for the patient’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Objectives
1. Invite experts and professionals from different areas of nutrition, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), integrative medicine (IM), and wellness to share their expertise and experiences
2. Introduce career, clinical, research and educational opportunities in the fields of nutrition, CAM, IM, and wellness
3. Foster interest and promote awareness of nutrition, CAM, IM, and wellness
4. Provide a community for students to share their interests and experiences in health and wellness with their fellow peers
5. Encourage students to pursue careers in integrative medicine and related fields

PROFESSIONAL LUNCHEON SERIES
The number and variety of careers in health and wellness is growing as the emergent field of integrative medicine continues to develop and thrive.
